Mediation as an Alternative to Divorce

Restraining Orders: Getting Help

Mediation is at times an alternative to divorce this is a less costly way to come up with a stipulation with an opposing party. The reason mediation may be more convenient is because it is voluntary. Neither party needs to attend mediation, therefore they feel they have more say in the matter. Additionally, the mediator is a neutral third party that attempts to remain unbiased. The unbiased nature of mediation sessions facilitates a more fair outcome.

In a mediation session both parties will have an opportunity to voice their opinions and hopefully come to an agreement. Mediation sessions may produce less stress for the parties because they do not take place in a court setting. If mediation is not for you it may be best to consult with a legal professional regarding the divorce process.
