In February a man named Josh Powell went to court to get full custody of his two sons ages 7 and 5. The two boys lived with their mother’s parents; their grandparents after their mother went missing a couple years earlier, in which the father lost custody after they found child pornography on his laptop. Josh Powell was denied full custody of his two sons but still received visitation with the two boys. When the social worker dropped off the boys, Powell closed the door and locked it on the social worker’s face. The social worker then called 911 and said that this has never happened before and she feared for the two boys lives. She heard the two boys screaming and then she smelled gas. Officials showed up too late and the father set the house on fire with himself and the two boys inside. They believe that this act was done because of Powell not receiving full custody of his two sons. Sometimes the thought of not having your children can be too much but this is obviously not the solution. Powell should have taken what the judge gave him and then better himself so that the next time he went in to receive custody he might have a chance of getting custody.
