Here are a few ways to rebuild your social life after divorce.

1. Reflect on your current friends first. After such a traumatic emotional experience, it’s important to take stock of your true friends, the ones who have been with you through and through.

2. Consider the people you have lost touch with recently. it’s important to remember that a divorce doesn’t always have to pull friends away. many people are understanding if you would like to continue to socialize with them post divorce.

3. Search for friends in new environments. Life is one continual experience of meeting new people so take advantage of that and find some new friends to add to your social life.

4. Find a divorce support group. Theres a surprising amount of these groups around now a days and they are perfectly designed to meet the needs of the newly divorced. Consider participating in a meeting to see how you like it.

5. Volunteer to help others. A great way to be involved in the community around you is to volunteer at local charities such as homeless shelters and library help.

6. Don’t just mope around after a divorce. It’s important to move on and regain some sense of emotional peace and stability especially post-divorce.

For further information regarding divorce and more please contact the Tustin Divorce Lawyers at 714-665-6600.

Omitted assets are assets that are kept out of the divorce sometimes done unintentionally but mostly done intentionally. While going through a divorce you and your spouse are to put forward all of your assets. People may try to omit their assets but that would not be wise. If that is done then the court can make it so that that asset that you are hiding will be split down the middle, when you could have just had your asset to yourself. In extreme cases the court can actually give 100% of the assets that you were hiding to your spouse. Your best bet is to put all of your assets forward in the beginning to avoid losing things you don’t want to.

You would think that a paternity test is pretty straightforward, you either are or are not the father, but there are different classifications of paternity when it comes to determining child support. The simplest form is the “acknowledged father”, which is a paternity test has been done and he has been proven to be the father. Another classification is he may be the “presumed father”, the presumed father is established if the child was born while he was married to his wife. The third classification is where they are called the equitable parent, this can be either a man or woman, they are not biologically their parent but they have a close tight parent-like relationship with the child, could later on have to pay child support. The last two classifications where paternity is unclear are the “unwedded fathers” and the stepfather. The unwedded father is the biological father but he is not married to mother and does owe child support. The stepfather is not legally obligated to pay child support unless he has legally adopted the child/children.

An often unfortunate feature of divorces is a drawn out and expensive child custody dispute. This blog is about how you can avoid going to court while at the same time maintaining your right to have a relationship with the children.

Firstly, it is important to remember that the child’s wellbeing, both physically and mentally, is the most important thing. When addressing your children, you should behave and speak as an adult talking to an adult. Be honest and realistic about where they’ll be staying and what the future holds. Have a neutral person mediate the negotiations and put everything in writing. Also, make sure you have plenty of copies of what was agreed upon.

Many individuals feel hopeless or trapped due to their economic situation. It is important to know your options and to know that their are options for those struggling financially.

First, you will want to converse with family members to see if any of them are willing to loan you money to assist you with your divorce. The money can go toward attorney expenses which can greatly assist you with a divorce proceeding. Second, if family is unable to assist you financially, perhaps a close friend will be able to lend you some money? Third, their are some attorneys that work pro bono, meaning they will assist you at no cost. Finally, it is also a good idea when seeking an attorney to ask them during your consultation if they accept payment plans.

Blame the increasing divorce rate on celebrities? Celebrities break and get divorced like it’s the cool thing to do. Marriage doesn’t mean anything anymore when it comes to the rich and famous. In the year 2011 alone there were 105 celebrity break ups and divorces, and I’m sure there were plenty more. Marriages for celebrities can last anywhere between hours to years. Many times they don’t even get to the wedding and split while engaged. The problem with this is that people look up to celebrities; everyone wants to be one, which may be why the divorce rate has gone up. The media tells us what’s in and right now divorces and break ups in the celebrity world is huge and not uncommon. Nobody is shocked anymore when celebrity couples split, so to the rest of the world divorce is a normal and common thing because the media tells us that. It would be interesting to see if the divorced rate would decrease if more celebrities stuck it out and worked on their marriages instead of running away from them.

There are too many things that can happen to you if you don’t, you can lose your license, your job, your house, you can even be sent to jail. Not only can u lose everything but your child support will start to build up and instead of paying what you were going to pay monthly, now you are paying much more just to get caught up. Your child deserves to receive support from their custodial parent, so if you owe it, then pay it.

Many people are unaware of the fact that even after divorce, they can end up being responsible for their ex’s debt. Most couples join accounts when getting married. There may be no debt in the joint account when you divorce, but even after getting a divorce, if you don’t take your name off of the account post-divorce, you increase the risk of sharing your ex’s debt. Removing your name from a joint account may be difficult sometimes, and if you haven’t done so, then a debt may be piling up in the account without your knowledge. In addition, if the bank doesn’t have your current address or information, the debt has piled up to a substantial amount before you found out about it.

Although you are divorced and legally have nothing to do with your ex, if your ex resorts to IVA, DRO, or bankruptcy, you may be left responsible for the bill. Thus, make sure you become completely independent from your ex and really take time to resolve any issues relating to your ex that may come back to hurt you.

F.A.C.E.S. stands for Family Assessment, Counseling & Education Services. Founded in 1988, this organization, among other practices, provides parents with a safe place to take parenting classes which are accepted by judges in Orange County. Many times, the court will order a party to enroll in a parenting class by a certain time, for a particular period of time. However, many people are unfamiliar with this practice and do not know exactly where to go to obtain this knowledge. F.A.C.E.S. offers parenting classes accepted by the Orange County courts. Whether you would like in-person interaction or choose to take an online class, F.A.C.E.S. offers both forms of parental education. Classes generally take approximately 16 weeks for completion.

While the class topics vary, F.A.C.E.S. parenting classes assist parents going through a divorce or legal separation, single parents seeking to improve their parenting capabilities, parents involved in conflict or high anxiety situations, and parents with little family support. Most simply, if you are a parent, this organization can assist you in developing and polishing your parenting skills.

Another organization that offers parenting classes approved by the Orange County courts is The AJ Novick Group, Inc. This organization offers weekly parenting classes on Thursday nights at 7:00pm. As a parent, you can begin the classes on any date and continue throughout the weeks you choose to pursue the program. The amount of time the classes last vary and you can take an 8, 10, 12, 22 or 52-week parenting or co-parenting class. The topics include managing stress as a parent, resolving conflicts and anger in the home, assisting with step-parents and step-children and avoiding mistakes in parenting.

Our divorce services should be your last avenue. You should contact a divorce attorney only after you have exhausted all your choices. Our family law firm will be happy to assist if you should ever need our services.

Frequently, parents filing for divorce bring their children along to the conference with our attorneys. And although, our law office have always valued the perspective of the children whose parents are ending their marriage, directly meeting those children only solidifies how important the divorce process is for them. Remember, the divorce process is as difficult, if not more difficult, for the children as it is for the parents. There are several tips to promote a child-focused divorce:

1) If your child is having trouble processing the divorce, choose a therapist you trust and encourage your child in working with the therapist.

2) Take time to explain the transition for your children; reassure them that you and your partner’s love for your child is not going to change.

3) Discuss with your children before you make decisions about changes to activities, access, and school of the children.

4) Let go of hatred and vengeance toward your partner. Children can sense any sort of tension.

Attorney Bettina Yanez has a background in psychology; therefore, she understands what a child may be going through. Moreover attorney Yanez is an appointed minor’s counsel attorney for Orange County.

Divorce is never easy for anyone, not for men and not for women. It takes a great emotional toll on both couples and it doesn’t even matter who initiated the divorce. If you are deciding on getting a divorce, then you are going to have to think about many things and really think things through. However, if you’ve already carried out the divorce and are currently still feeling the depression that usually follows getting a divorce, then here are some tips to being emotionally smart.

It may not be easy to hear, but what’s done is done. For whatever valid reason, you decided to get a divorce and you have. Usually women, more than men, are scared to start a new life without a significant other. They are usually scared of being uncertain of the future. However, smart divorcees commit to being happy again, and put much effort into that commitment. The first step is to stop thinking of yourself as a victim, and start seeing yourself as a survivor. Divorce is tough for everyone, of every age and gender. Stop dwelling in the past and go out and engage in activities that will help you move on. The second step is to accept the economic reality of divorce. You have to come to terms with your post-divorce financial circumstances. You no longer have a spouse to financially work with, and you may be left paying for child support or spousal support. However, you’ve chosen to get a divorce because you believed it was the only way to be happy. Thus, although getting a divorce brought on financial stress, you have to believe this stress is much more bearable than the emotional stress you’ve felt during your marriage. The sooner you come to peace with the fact that you won’t have the same extravagant lifestyle post-divorce, the better.

All in all, trust your decision and the actions you’ve made. Doubting your choice of having gotten a divorce will do you no good and only becomes self-produced stress. So be smart and focus your energy toward building a bright future.

The reasons this can occur will be a case by case basis. Some parties find that they have both changed and are no longer in love with each other. Furthermore, at times, one of the party changes so drastically and they simply have nothing in common with their spouse.

Additional reasons why marriages sometimes do not work are stress, new job environment, arguments, or sometimes couples find a new significant other.

If you feel that a divorce is in your future it is important to inform and educate yourself on the process.

Divorce does not usually come as a surprise. There are usually things that lead up to a divorce; like infidelity, social networking with the opposite sex, abuse, therapy did not work, or arguing for prolonged periods of time. Divorce is initiated by women more times than by men. Sometimes though it can be a surprise to the other spouse when one wants the divorce. The other spouse may think everything is going while the other is suffering inside. Sometimes this is done for their own selfish reasons, if that’s the case don’t dwell on it. Take care of you and let them figure themselves out, only they can fix their own problems that they are facing. You will know when the time is right to file for a divorce, just make sure that you are making the best decision for you and your children.

A divorce can seem confusing at many points of the process. During an extensive divorce, you may hear your attorney talk about obtaining temporary or interim orders. Temporary orders are vital during the divorce process because they lay the ground rules while a divorce is pending.

Since divorces often take more than a year, judges may issue temporary orders to temporarily settle custodial and financial arrangements. Temporary orders may handle issues of child custody, spousal support, and responsibility for bills.

Judges don’t usually make temporary orders until a financial affidavit has been filed by both parties. The goal of temporary orders is to cause as little change as possible in the lifestyles of the parties involved until the divorce is settled.

Divorce in the media is viewed as a norm due to all of the divorces publicized. Celebrities are constantly undergoing highly contested divorces and are under the media spot light. Divorce does not seem to be viewed as the same taboo matter that families are ashamed to discuss or be a part of. It is important that the public keep in mind that celebrities are regular people who are not perfect. The celebrities who are getting divorced that are in the lime light does not validate divorce.

It is important to understand that all relationships are different. Although divorce seems to be on the rise it is important to realize that their are alternatives to divorce. Mediation is a common alternative to conflict resolution and marriage disputes. Please make sure you research your options and are fully aware of the benefits and consequences of any decisions you are contemplating making.

When going through a divorce it is important to speak with a legal professional and weigh your options. Divorce can be costly and stressful so it is important to ask questions and to thoroughly understand the process to alleviate that stress that is associated.

Mediation is a voluntary option for dispute resolution. Both parties must agree to attend mediation sessions. Mediation can be less costly than divorce. In a mediation session their is neutral third party conducting the session. The mediator is facilitating the conversation between the parties. It is of the utmost importance that the mediator not take sides and maintain their neutrality.

Falling out of love is difficult. Especially after years of getting used to each other’s presence. However, approximately 50 percent of divorced men and 20 percent of divorced women are ready to remarry when they divorce. Just because a love is lost doesn’t mean there aren’t other loves. There’s even a saying: Every goodbye makes the next hello closer.

Meeting another person you want to spend the rest of your time with is a very fortunate thing. However, statistics indicate that in the U.S., 50 percent of first marriages, 67 percent of second, and 73 percent of their marriage end in divorce. Thus, the more times you wed a person, the higher likelihood the marriage will end. There are numerous reasons why this might be so. People who cannot stand the loneliness that follows divorce tend to jump into a relationship right away and enter another marriage as a “rebound.” As George Santayana puts it, “those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” People make the same mistakes in another marriage and react to those mistakes in the same way. This can only lead to the same result, divorce. You may get custom to getting a divorce but this doesn’t make it any cheaper.

Divorce is an extremely difficult thing to go through, if you can’t fix it then the best thing to do is move on. The problem that people have though is actually moving on. This is a normal emotion, it is hard for people to move on but there are plenty of advice websites and psychiatrist who can help with that and give you steps for the right way of moving on. Here are some steps I found for moving on from a divorce and just trying to survive it.

First off you should allow yourself to grieve the loss of the relationship. Grieving is a part of the moving on process, if you don’t allow yourself that time then your emotions of being hurt will remain the same. Secondly, do not isolate yourself, make sure that you reach out to others for support. If you don’t really have any support then seek out support groups or see a counselor, or just make new friends. Thirdly, make sure you take care of yourself. Make time everyday to nurture yourself, pay attention to what you need, stick to what you need, avoid using alcohol, drugs, or food to cope, and explore new interest. Another way to look at a divorce is instead of seeing only the negatives you should try to find some positives, try to look for important life lessons that can be learned from the situation. The best thing to do is not rush the process and take everything day by day, trying to look into the future will make things too overwhelming.

First and foremost you must tell both sides that you will not be taking a position in either trench. In all likelihood, you will still be talking to both sides to it’s best to be honest and open.

If you absolutely positively must choose sides, then limit your contact with the other side. Common sense dictates theres no point in angrily taunting the side you are not siding with.

You are not an arbiter of what is right or wrong so don’t pretend to be. Both sides will probably have very different views on what actually happened than the other so just be an echo of whoever you’re with and let them bounce ideas off of you.

Don’t use e-mail to talk to either side because print is forever. Whatever you type may find its way into court or worse so its best to speak in person. Furthermore, expect whatever yous ay to one side to get to the other. Secrets don’t stay secret in heated arguments.

Worst case scenario, detach from both and hope that things will cool down soon.
